What is a QR Code?

According to Denso-Wave, a division of Toyota Motor and the developer of these codes in 1994: QR Codes (Quick Response) are a type of 2D (two-dimensional) symbols that are used to store information.

More powerful than a bar code and standard 2D codes, they offer a gateway for the development of innovative marketing applications, as well as manufacturing, logistics and service solutions.

As shown in the table below, QR Codes are the most comprehensive and powerful solution available today, with almost 2 times the capacity of any other system in place.

For simple codes, consumers can access this codes by taking pictures on their cell phones (either with preloaded software or with downloadable versions).
